Those “master professionals” are great for specific campaigns, I just dont see they fitting into classical ones.
In this case, MAYBE you can fill some gaps with traditional character moves.
Maybe you could complete your set with Compendium Classes versions for traditional campaigns. “The Blacksmith” (Full character) and “The Master Blacksmith” (CC), and it can be triggered by something like: “When you forge a masterpiece weapon and it’s used for a great achievement, you may take this move when you level up: […]”. So your work would fit nicely in whatever situation.
Summarizing my last coment:
1. This work great in specific houserules or campaing seting.
2. Feel free to add “traditional” moves.
3. Try CC versions with clear (and powerfull) triggers.
4. Count w me!
What makes you think you couldn’t use it in any campaign? It’s really simply a fighter that can create his own weapons.
I liked the Master Artist playbook because it was open-ended about what the art could be.
Stephanie Bryant That’s what I was hoping for Stephanie, but it really came down to being too open and thus not specific enough to make enough sense when it came down to it. This way, you can choose which art you love, and get much more specific. I think it will actually work out a lot better this way.
Damian Jankowski it CAN be used, but with some restrictions. I, as GM would not allow this character in traditional campaigns (Default characters) because of his similarity with the fighter, casting a shadow upon its characteristics, thats why I suggest the compendium class, so it can be broader.
In specific campaigns, among your other characters (like minstrel), would be amazing!
Gabriel Abreu Lugão I don’t necessarily agree as the Priest and Cleric, Wizard and Mage, Fighter and Barbarian, etc. all run into the same situation.
I think that particular balance between playbooks lies in the hands of the players and GM. The likelihood of a Fighter and Master Blacksmith falling into the same campaign would be low, I bet, since players often ask each other what the other is taking to balance each other and remain unique. If a Mage enters the game, I am unlikely going to see two other players want to take the Wizard and the Winter Mage, for example.
Just as the Mage is an alternative to the Wizard, so too could be the case here. Though I don’t truly believe that the Blacksmith relates too closely to the Fighter.
Damian Jankowski Its not a problem at all… I just wish to see some CC alternatives for those. Maybe I construct ’em inspired by yours.
