Beautiful. I love the interspersing of prose with questions.
“Which one of you can swim?” Gorgeous.
So good.

As one of his players, I want to say that this was an amazing way to start off. It takes the whole “start in the middle” thing to a great level, and it really helped to set up the story.
One of the most interesting things about this situation is that you’re likely to find that your players don’t have any abilities relevant to surviving a sinking ship! And that’s not a bad thing at all. It made it really interesting – liberal use of the Charm Person spell from my character, combined with some creative (and flawed) casting from our Mage, a great use of the Cause Fear spell, and just a good use of strength from out Fighter, made for one hell of an opening session 😀
It makes me really want to try it out. Very nice work.
Great, and that last question: true genius.
How did you get out of it?

Wonderful. Love the questions. They can guide you really well to start an intriguing role play game.
I love the priceless thing question. Great starter for a demo.
Awesome!
