If you’re expecting or encouraging people new to DW to come, I’d just stick to the core playbooks.
I posted the big excel spreadsheet and let the players pick anything they wanted.
We ended up with 3 playbooks from Inverse World (Golem, Mechanic, and Collector), the Fool, the Princess, the Dashing Hero, and the Gunslinger.
Anyone coming in new has to play the Guest Star for a session before they make their character, so they can build a backstory that will fit in with the rest of the PCs.
When I run at gencon/Origins I always use the core books only. It’s just easier for new players to deal with. Too many playbooks lead to decision paralysis.
Yeah, for one-shots, I would limit the playbooks to the core books. I just threw the door open for my game, because it’s going to be an ongoing campaign.
Thank you everybody. If any of you are in the area, it will be at Game Time in Indy.

Chris Shorb : Sorry it took me a while to find this post again. I’ve been sick since Dec 31st.
No worries. My game night is next weekend.
