EDIT: Updated version now available!
The Abjurer is now available on DriveThruRpg.com http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/140184/The-Abjurer–A-Dungeon-World-Playbook
This is the first in my series of specialist wizard playbooks. A big thank you to the fine folks here who helped me get it right. Chris St Aubin did an amazing job on the cover art.

Do you have any other work I could take a look at? I like the idea and am very interested, but there is no preview and I couldn’t find anything else you’ve written.
That cover is beautiful! Definitely seconding Delos’ comment; I’d love to see a preview. I know DTRPG can be a pain to put up previews, but it’s worth doing. I’ve just realised The Brute has no preview, I thought I’d fixed that!
Hmm what is the best way to make a preview? It is a 2 page playbook so I am not sure how much I should reveal. Could I post a few of the moves somewhere?
I usually provide the cover and first page, where the starting moves are located, as a preview.
Yeah just seeing the starting moves is enough to sell it.
I totally judge a book by its cover, and this was very well done. The art is great but I would probably have provided some background behind the lettering at the bottom at least so it just wouldn’t blend in so much. Otherwise fantastic!
Damian Jankowski Thanks for the feedback, I may update the cover to make the words at the bottom more easy on the eyes.
Delos Adamski James Hawthorne the preview is up. Thank you for the suggestion.
Bonus: One of my favorite level 2-5 advanced moves –

Arcane Lock
You magically lock two objects you touch together as if by powerful magical force.
Take -1 to cast a spell while this spell is ongoing.

When I go to it I can only see the starter moves on the quick preview, and I can’t read that. What is this, a preview for ants? 😛
Delos Adamski took a few minutes for the pdf preview to show up for me. If you refresh there should be a “full size preview” haha
Yep working now. Thanks much for doing this.
sounds good! onto the wish list it goes! 😀
So Mike Wice are you going to be doing the other schools of magic, from 3rd D&D, as well then?
Are these direct copies of spells and abilities from those classes from other systems? If so, I would just be careful in selling them as original concepts if they are copyrighted.
Damian Jankowski Do you mean similarly named? The mechanics are very different, though thematically similar.
That’s cool. Since you said you were basing these off ideas/mechanics from other systems, I didn’t know if you were just porting them directly or basing them loosely on the same ideas.
Damian Jankowski I am creating a whole series of casters loosely based on the old specialist wizardry schools in old dungeons and dragons. I have versions for all of the schools except for Necromancy so far, but do not yet have cover art for the others. A few still need some finishing touches as well.
I am making them thematically similar, but trying to make them mechanically open to capture the feel of play in Dungeon World. In old dungeons and dragons, abjuration is the school of protection magic. As such, this caster’s specialty is in protection, wards, and such.
Next I will likely be releasing the Conjuror or Transmuter.
Jeremy Strandberg I want to get you a free copy of this because you helped me with feedback a few months ago. Whats the easiest way to do that?
Honestly, based on the preview this is one of my favorite magic implementations seen thus far. Well done, I think I will actually have to purchase this.
*It also gave me the idea/inspiration on how to finish my own Core Wizard hack.
I bought this but no license. Can you please update?
Delos Adamski I will be doing a similar treatment with the other schools of magic, creating a playbook for each, yes! They are mostly already finished. I don’t have cover art for the others yet and need to do a little more editing.
Anthony Giovannetti thank you very much for the kind words. Hope to see your core wizard hack soon too!
Phillip Zolla sorry, I am relatively new to publishing. Could you explain a bit more about what license you mean? Most of the playbooks I have purchased don’t seem to include a license in the download. I would like to help though, so please elaborate a bit on what it is you need. Thanks!
Nice. Thanks, Mike! I just sent you my info in a private post. The cover art on this is bad ass.
looks fucking awesome!
Last night I updated this with several clarifications and formatting changes. If you have already purchased it, you probably want to download the latest version, its a bit easier to understand and easier on the eyes.
Phillip Zolla Updated licensing information. Will include a license page on the next pdf update as well.
