You could write this scenario up as fronts and threats for Dungeon World just as it is.
So he converted DnD to a front system? Excellent. The only question is, why did he play DnD and not DW?
Anyway, this is an excellent article, supporting my contention that the biggest innovation of DW (Or PbtA) is not the dice mechanics or moves but Front Driven Sessions.
Fronts = Characters with goals
Dangers = Those characters’ assets in use.
