I’m sad to say that I don’t have many third party classes that fill a fighter sort of niche. I have plenty of variations on rogues, rangers, and wizards, but not many classes that deal in damage and cool weapons.
What does the Tavern recommend?

The Inverse World Survivor (and Mechanics) and Golem. Grim World Slayers and Inquisitor. Pirate World Brute.
The Warden I am working on.
The Warrior from Inglorious (not out yet)

What sort of melee archetypes would people like to see that differ greatly from the main?
Here’s the Gladiator by SomethingAwful poster Gimpinblack

Can’t recall the excel spreadsheet in the google+ files of the group which has the full lists of alternate classes but a few on drivethrurpg too. Though between the fighter, barbarian & paladin, there is a lot of variations there depending on what specialty gear and/or temples they work with.

Adrian Thoen Ooh, I like that Gladiator.
Tim Franzke I have Inverse World. The Survivor is a treat to see. I didn’t take a good look at the Mechanic before, but now I see that they are pretty good at the stomping. I don’t have Grim World though. I’ll have to save up.
Darren Priddy This is truth, there is a lot of variation in the core classes.
Mechanic is excellent at the stomping, particularly in absorbing damage and keeping on coming.
Dungeon Planet has the Engine of Destruction and the Mutant.
Mechanic are especially good at stomping and shooting with INT and needing not STR/DEX (or not much DEX)
Tim Franzke Yes, forgot to mention: Mechanic is really good at being a creative fighter, defying danger by outthinking it.
There’s also the Arcane Duelist: http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/115849/The-Arcane-Duelist-A-Dungeon-World-Playbook
And don’t forget the Barbarian.
I really dig the Battlemaster, Skirmisher and Slayer from Grim World. The Gambit mechanic from Battlemaster may be my favorite mechanic of all DW playbooks and the Slayer I had in my group last campaign was one of the funnest fighter types I’ve ever played – he would constantly get sick and vomit on people or grow delirious and in the final battle he died only to come back more powerful with one motivation – kill the big bad who murdered his girlfriend!
