I’m working on a new class and while it’s still a WIP, I’ll share this with you: what do you think?
“You learned the merciful ways of Ostheomancy. When you weave bones and tissue to heal people, roll +INT. On a 10+, you heal your damage dice. On a 7-9, you severed the link a little later than you would have liked to. Their pains and wounds transfer to you until you can rest for a while; while you suffer no actual harm, you are Sick and horrible, gaping wounds appear on your body.”
Don’t have it in front of me but that seems not much different from the Paladin’s Lay On Hands. How do they compare?
Looks like it has potential, but that 7-9 result is really long.
Fred Hicks Yeah, I used it as inspiration to give the class an healing “skill”. The point is that this move is entirely optional and doesn’t really characterize the class (it’s a pick between this and an offensive move). It’s supposed to be a more “messy” lay on hands.
Christopher Stone-Bush I’ll probably reword it in a less convoluted way 🙂 Thanks!
Fred Hicks well the paladin takes actual damage, if I recall correctly. Here, the PC suffers and is Sick and, er, not very good looking, but that’s it.
BTW, does it mean that after the first 7-9 I can go nuts and use the power with no “actual” mechanic consequence on a 7-9?
Nikitas gets at what was troubling me. It’s messier but safer.
What about
On a 7-9, pick two:
– you only heal half as much
– you take damage equal to the portion of damage you heal
– you are not temporarily horribly disfigured (this might simply be “you suffer one debility”)
I really like it. Added. Would you like to see the “final” class?
Yup
