How do you GMs handle letting your players know about available Compendium Classes? I can think of a few different ways to do it, but I’m rolling a 7-9 and I’m not sure which way I’d go.
– Wait for the appropriate triggers to introduce ones that are applicable to a specific player.
– Let your players know about them right away, especially if they are something they may want to aspire to.
– Allow your players to write their own.
– Something else?
Funny timing, I just finished adding the ability to input Compendium Classes into the Dungeon World Wiki:

Once it has more content, your players can simply browse, find one they like, and ask you how they can get it. Feel free to make them earn a CC.
I let them know what’s available that they may like (because I know my players well enough).
When we play, I simply put down the appropriate (starting) CC moves as if they were custom moves.
I search for a CC they may like, and are appropriate for the fiction/situation at hand.
David Schirduan Do you mind if I put up some of my own base playbooks up on the wiki for free? I see a class index page but it looks like you’re just making an index.
The best option would be to include a link at the bottom, and make it clear that the playbooks are free to use.
The index is the best way to have a database containing proprietary AND free playbooks.
Also, right now documents and images cannot be uploaded to the wiki. So you’d have to rely on links anyway.
this weekend, I’ll be doing a lot more work on the wiki. If you need help, or have ideas for making things better, PM me! I’d be glad to get some more help and advice.
I can write an overview of the class and then link to the playbook. That’s probably the best way to do it right now. I’m just not very experienced at wiki’s.
In a game where I’ve got a fighter with the bearer compendium class, and pretty much told my GM that that’s what was going to happen. That sword has become one of his favorite NPCs.
