I’m putting together a doc that will take you step-by-step through setting up a DCC RPG style Funnel within the Dungeon World rules, including a new Villager class. I have simple rules for generating a Funnel on the fly, but I’m also including a list of suggested published adventures for GMs to use. I already solicited opinions from the DCC community, and now I’m asking Tavern patrons (you) for suggestions for good published 0-level adventures (in print, pdf, or free online). They can be for DCC, DW, or any other system, as long as you think it would make a good Funnel.
Here’s what I have so far:
Funnel runs written for Dungeon World:
The Slave-Pit of Drazhu by Jason Morningstar
Funnel runs written for other systems:
Adrift on the Sea of Love by Gus L
B1: In Search of the Unknown by Mike Carr
Death Frost Doom by James Edward Raggi IV
Eye of the Serpent by Graeme Morris
Halls of the Minotaur by Harley Stroh
Into the Wilds by Harley Stroh
Legends are Made Not Born by Chris Doyle
The Lost Vault of Tsathzar Rho by Michael Mearls
Prison of the Hated Pretender by Gus L
Sailors on a Starless Sea by Harley Stroh
Sinister Secret of Whiterock by Harley Stroh
Tower of the Black Pearl by Harley Stroh
Tower of the Stargazer by James Edward Raggi IV
I am excited for this doc!
I also am rather interested
Count me as excited too!
Villager class ain’t new 😉 Maybe You should ask Mr. Harper for his original playbook to work from?
Sounds cool though. Any of Marshall’s Dungeon Starters would make great funnels / setting and situation establishment for the villager characters to grow into their classes.
I think probably his Villager class, while not new, is more specific to the concept of growing into other classes. /sub
I’ve checked out the other Villager classes floating around. For mine, I’m using lots of DCC-style tables to generate stuff, and adding a Luck ability, so it’s pretty different. And yes, the idea is that the surviving Villagers graduate into one of the basic DW classes. The DCC Funnel is such a wonderful basis for worldbuidling that, after playing numerous session of both games, I felt compelled to adapt it to DW. Maybe I should call mine the “Funnel Villager” to distinguish it from John’s and the others…
Nathan Roberts, thanks for pointing me to the Dungeon Starters, I had not seen them and they are awesome!
My Pleasure 🙂
