Just something for fun – anyone here seen the anime Attack on Titan? If so, you might enjoy!

I like it, but with only 3 hold (4 with Master of Maneuvers), that limits you to about 1-2 attacks against the titans before you have to Make Camp again (considering shooting up into a tree and attacking the back of the titan’s neck is 2 hold).
I think it’s awesome you made a CC for Shingeki no Kyojin – I don’t know about the hold though. It feels too limiting. I wonder if there’s a better mechanic that lets you get more attacks in with the 3D maneuver gear.
With DW, you play the main characters of the story, and look how many attacks the main characters of the anime get in with each titan. I’m not even talking about Eren, but Mikasa, Levi, the rest of the special operations squad, etc.
Perhaps instead of spending 3 hold and then making camp to refresh, why not increase the hold – you can call it fuel, gas, even ammo – and instead of making camp, you need to refuel (which can equate to Make Camp, since you’d have to go back to, say, one of the horse-drawn carts with supplies or back to the city to refuel).
This is a great idea! Though I do agree with the above, having so little hold really limits what you can do.
An alternate to the above is instead make the player have to roll for his moves, and have the moves have a list of choices like volley, and you reduce hold instead of ammo.
The other way is just drop the hold all together and let the player run free, and not limit how much they can fly around. It appears to me in the manga that the characters have plenty of fuel for at least one encounter with titans, maybe two or three if they know how to conserve their fuel. That’s plenty for a fight, especially if you give him a cart with a supply of fuel in it.
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback! Great points, and valid – as it stands, the hold is pretty limiting, yeah. That’s intentional, as I don’t want the skills from the compendium class to overshadow the cool things the main classes can already do. (For example, if you could run free all the time, you’d not need to use the Druid’s shapeshift ability.)
Also yes, as a rule they have enough fuel for an encounter or two – but isn’t it more dramatically appropriate they run out when they need it the most? 🙂
That said, if I was going to build a full-blown titan hunter class then yes, you’d probably remove hold entirely. Like I said, this was really just a bit of fun and I’m not really bothered about developing it. Feel free to build on this though, and make your own titan-hunter class – put it on here and I’ll leave some feedback.
