Just wrapped up my Dungeon World campaign using the Innistrad setting from Magic: The Gathering. The finale was tense and exciting, as our heroes realized the full extent of their betrayal by numerous trusted NPCs, and had to fight their way out of a burning inn through a huge werewolf, a demon-worshiping ex-Cathar (paladin), and some summoned fire demons.
We didn’t end up making as much use of Jonathan Walton and Sean Dunstan ‘s fear rules as I had planned, but overall the campaign managed to maintain a nice horror feel.
I was glad to finally get to run a game using this Gothic Horror themed setting, and the campaign was made very fun by great players like Kenneth Lavender , Zackery Moore , Brian Meadors , and first time RPGer Renee Gainer .

Wow, I actually forgot all about my fear rules. I need to find that post again.
Very cool. Love this idea (Innistrad) because you have instant access to real vent art. 🙂
Sean Dunstan: Yes, please do and repost. I’d be interested in seeing Fear rules. I’m assuming it’s just a custom move? When you’re confronted with a sight of unspeakable horror, etc.?
Cool. How many sessions did your campaign run?
Parker Emerson it was a bunch of stuff; a sanity mechanic, madness moves, stuff like that
Robert Slaughter – I’m going to guess about 10 sessions overall, nominally weekly games but we had to skip a fair number of sessions due to players traveling, etc. We may resume the campaign later in the summer.
It was a great game between the RP, beer and just fun people. The setting was fantastic and so was the story. Things flowed in a way most of my other games haven’t.
Evocative setting stuff. Love the tri-corner hats.
Judd Karlman Yeah, its amazing how much they invested in creating this setting for the card game, knowing that very few of the folks playing would ever see it. There is plenty there to run multiple RPG campaigns (we barely scratched the surface of one region). Plus, I had tons of ready made artwork to use for inspiration in my game. If anyone is interested, I pulled together all of the information on Innistrad from the WOTC site and compiled it into a PDF, which is here:
