This is my attempt to make a DW (as opposed to WoD) compatible Freebooter class for use with Planarch Codex. It’s intended that the entire party only use this class. It’s intended to be kind of a cross between the Thief and… everything else, although the move list is a smidge sparse.

Philip Burge yes, it’s different because I felt the removal of Clumsy by itself was a slightly weak move. It gives you, effectively,1 extra armour, 2 if you get enough money to get plate. Iron Hide can give a similar benefit, without the requirement for any gear. And extra 4 load is a nice benefit, but likewise not huge – I doubt any player would take move that gave +4 load and nothing else. So, because of this and some vague thematics, I combined them.
Also, it occurs to me that maybe Unusual Technique should be applicable to ANY move – Muscle Wizard ho!
The Freebooter, by default, has less load than the Paladin or Fighter. Basically, the Load Bearer move lets you not only use armour without the Clumsy tag, but also gives you the Load capacity to actually wear armour without giving up on a heap of other gear. It is, indeed, better than the Fighter/Paladin/Barbarian moves, but the Freebooter A- won’t be in a party with one of those classes, and B- can only replicate part of either of those classes at character creation.
if you want to make a fighter Freebooter, you take, say, Weapon Specialist (“my favourite weapon”), and Load Bearer. Such a character will have slightly better damage and load than a fighter, will have the same capabilities in regards to armour, but his HP will be less, and he won’t have Bend Bar, Lift Gates.
Mixing this class in with others might be a bad idea, just because it’s specifically designed to step on the toes of all the other classes.
