Since the color PDF that I have on my iPad doesn’t have bookmarks, the fastest method of finding information is to open Safari and search the SRD.

Not as pretty, but speed is more important the table.

Does anyone have a means of getting a hold of Alex Leal, the artist that produced the illustrations for the Dungeon World Guide, by Eon Fontes-May and Sean M. Dunstan? I like his art style and I’m interested in commissioning some similar illustrations by him, pending details.

Thought I’d share. ;)

Comments very welcome!

This is for a Star Wars campaign I’m going to run by modifying Star Worlds: Streets of Mos Eisley Playset, by Zwolfa the Hutt.

My modifications include:

• Using bonds and alignment (renamed “purpose”) as a means of gaining hero points (you also gain one when the GM makes a hard move against you).

• Using DW’s standard ability scores instead of those used in Star Worlds.

• Modifying the move structure as follows: Primary move of the game is roll when you attempt something risky or opposed, add in Aid or Interfere, Bolster, Spout Lore, Discern Realities, and model hyperspace journeys after Undertake a Perilous Journey.

So, I just discovered the World of Dungeons hack by John Harper. It interests me because there are no moves to keep track of. You roll dice “when you attempt something risky or opposed.”

That sounds cool, but I’m wondering how that changes the dynamic of play. Anyone experienced with both can say what that would take away from DW play, or what it would add?

Not so much actual play as a report of my first foray. :)

So, my wife and I found some time between cooking tasks to have a running game of Dungeon World throughout the evening. Here’s my takeaway:

• It’s certainly different from more conventional methods. I liked how freeform it was (the whole conversation thing).

• Despite its differences, the story overall didn’t play out differently, and if anything was a little clumsier, but I chalk that up to my inexperience.

• Related to the point above, the fights didn’t go any faster than they do in other systems, which isn’t exactly a negative, just something I anticipated going in.

• I got imagination fatigue with all of the 7-9 results that I had to come up with a challenge for.

In all, we had fun, and I found some stealable mechanics :). I’d like to try it again with some more experienced players before I make a final judgement, but right now I’m not sure it’s my game.

There’s a lot of good stuff in that world book, though, and we’re only $2,500 away from that. Can we do it?

It’s official: we’re doing Cortex Plus and Apocalypse World engine editions of Jadepunk as part of our primary goal. If we fund, they’re getting made. Period. $10 gets you digital copies of the Fate Core, Cortex Plus and ‘World versions of the game. These are complete, stand alone products.

Right now it’s digital only for the Cortex Plus/’World editions, but we’re open to doing physical copies. It depends on how much demand we have for them. Who’s interested in physically owning those books?
