Hey, all! It’s been a while, but here’s a revamped version of the Puppetmaster playbook, using the new playbook template. Sorry to Joshua Faller for taking so long.

To anyone interested in playtesting it, here’s something you might want to pay attention to while playing: Note where the character’s concentration is being spent. It could be an interesting restriction on the player, or just a pain in the ass. It’s hard to tell from my end.

Man Behind the Curtain

When you hide in a pinch, choose one and describe:

– You find a spot which allows you use of your hands

– You will not be able to be seen unless you move from your spot

– You can hide a creature/puppet/object of your size or smaller along with you

The “Thief” background allows you to pick two. An advanced move called Acrobatic Contortionist adds another choice:

– You hide safely in a spot that would otherwise be too high up, cramped, or dangerous

I think this fits well because a puppetmaster would survive close combat about as well as a pencil would a wood-chipper, but it feels like I’m missing something. What do you think?

To make things easier and more to-the-point, I’ve replaced the old Upgrade system with a Build system.

The four puppet builds are based around imitation, hidden weapons, offense, and defense. Check them all out on page 3. This is still in development, so feel free to make suggestions.

EDIT: I just noticed the base damage die. It’s supposed to be a d6, not a d4.

I’ve worked on it for a week, and I think it’s ready for a fresh dose of correction and new ideas. A lot of the changes that have been made are due to the advice of Christopher Stone-Bush, who has been very patient with me so far 😛

This is the Puppeteer class.

What kind of puppeteer are we talking about?

Picture Kankuro or Sasori from the Naruto manga/anime. If you don’t know who those guys are, imagine a dexterous lurker in the shadows who fights using battle-customized marionettes. These marionettes can be fit with hidden mechanisms, enhancements and abilities that make them useful and unique in battle.

I hope you’ll spend some time looking over these pdfs and choose to leave some criticism. I love this concept, and I want it to be good enough to make other people love it too.
