Got a chance to run some Raising Hell Under the Holy Mountain (Perilous Deeps) recently. Players encountered the tub-licker. The mechanic where new tongues pop out if the players say “ew” is so fun to run. I was making the grossest attack and wound descriptions ever.

If anyone else has run it, I’m curious how many tongues they got to pop out…

Hey, I’d like to run a Hangout sesh in about 25 hours. We’ll be exploring a pretty old school type of dungeon. And I’ll give you playtester credits when this thing gets published.

The bad guys got to unleash their plane onto the world. The PCs were fighting skellingtons while squeezing through a narrow fissure and retreating. A cave-in started. They now had room to run, but could not dodge the falling rocks properly (several failed rolls in a row), and they got a very special death scene (after a failed last breath).

Death assured them that there are barmaids in heaven (the fighter had gotten into this adventure to save a kidnapped barmaid that actually had a douchey boyfriend). The god of storms chastised them for failing. The PCs had no children, so their lines ended there and the bad guys took over the area around the mountain.

Some day, maybe a new group of brave souls will be charged with driving them back.

Druid Shapeshifting Question

Druid Shapeshifting Question

Druid Shapeshifting Question

Sorry if this is an old question, but I can’t figure out how to search communities.

What is the drawback that you guys go with when druids fail their shapeshifting roll? It says they still get to hold one, and then the DM decides something.

Like it seems that aside from the quandary of what to decide, we have the issue of what is to keep the druid from transforming into the same animal multiple times and effectively getting infinite holds? Maybe it doesn’t matter, but out druid wanted to keep turning into a bat to explore a dangerous cave without a light. Maybe I should just make DM moves and introduce new threats and that should keep the player from rolling until they get the dice to cooperate with them?

Have I answered my own question?

Dungeon World certainly helps inspire interesting characters.
