Came across this and the original youtube video today, and it looks like it could be a lot of fun for my group. Curious to see if anyone here has used it or something similar and find out how it went/how you applied it all.

So I’m starting up a new adventure/campaign with my regular group this coming Thursday, the last one was very story focussed (specific bad guys linked to the pc’s, etc). It was a lot of fun, but I’ve specifically asked them to focus more on the adventuring/treasure huntery style of game this time round.

This is what they have come up with for characters: A wandering group/travelling troupe of people whose soul purpose is to keep their pockets lined. We have a gladiator strong man, an illusionist mage, a sultry thief and a bardic tiefling.

I’m really looking forward to this as it gives me plenty of options in terms of what they could be getting up to. They could come across an abandoned place, or find a map to a hidden treasure or take a job from the local guild. There’s plenty of things that could go on.

My question to you guys is, what sort of things do you think I should have happen? How much of the world should I build?

Right now I have nothing, I’m tempted to spend a little time drawing a map out and sticking the key roads and towns/cities of note on it. But not fleshing it out anymore than that.

I’m also thinking of adding in some NPC’s that are notable in key places, or ones I can draw from. I would like to make this a living world, rather than a rather static one I had before.

Sorry for the very long post, any advice would be great!

TLDR: Adventures are now a group of travelling entertainers that rob temples/tombs of gold and get up to shenanigans. Crazy ideas for things to happen and general tips for world building are appreciated.

Hopefully I’m putting this in the right area

Seen some awesome playbooks recently that have “drives” rather than “alignments” I think, as well as extra space for gear and notes. +Jarrah James’ Stellar Conflict is one example (over on reddit.com/r/dungeonworld if you’ve not seen it).

Anyone know if there are any resources where this has been done for the original playbooks? I really like the layout and new addition, and would like to see what it looks like with the originals.

Thanks!

Hey guys, friendly neighbourhood newbie here.

Hey guys, friendly neighbourhood newbie here.

I’ve been thinking up some ideas for this week session, where my group are advancing into some mountains. Having read through the Dungeon World book and the Dungeon World Guide, I’m coming up a bit stumped with one section.

Draw Maps Leave Blanks, Ask Questions and Use Answers and Play to Find Out. I know I kinda do this stuff anyway, but I’m just trying to think about asking my group questions and whether or not I should.

To clarify: The party are travelling to a Temple at the summit of The Humbled Mountains, along the way I thought I would chuck in a few Points of Interest. Taking some advice from the DW Guide I’m not filling them with creatures or traps and am looking to play to find out what happens.

It does mention coming up with 2-3 questions about each place, but not answering them, instead playing to find out what happens.

Am I supposed to be writing these questions (my example below) and asking the players? Or letting these come about when players Discern Realities or Spout Lore?

I suppose I’m asking, how much should I prepare and how much should I ask my players to put in?

Example: Humbled Mountains

Points of Interest:  Abandoned Mine/Camp

Why was the mine abandoned?

What was being mined?

What unusual discovery was made?

Hey guys, I put together some dangers and fronts for my recently started campaign.

Hey guys, I put together some dangers and fronts for my recently started campaign. Just wondering if anyone would like to have a look and critique them for me since this is my first go.

Feel free to borrow ideas or items as you like, I think there’s some cool ones in there.

Looking for Advice:

Hi there, I’m pretty new to Dungeon World and have only recently got my group into and running it. First session we spent time making characters and learning rules, second session I borrowed an idea and made starting moves for the characters. This has set us up nicely with a couple of different adventures.

I’m now trying to put together my Fronts and I’m struggling to get the concept. I know I’m not supposed to be writing a lot of stuff out, but how much do I do?

For instance the characters are making their way to Mount Dread (thank the ranger for that), where on the highest peak lies the Temple of Stone Tears, an old and abandoned place belonging to the Lord of Light and Fire, Ragnarok (paladin’s deity). The paladin also received a scorched sword hilt and wishes to make the journey to this temple, in hopes to reforge the blade.

So we all know Mount Dread lives up to its name, we know there’s a temple somewhere near the top.

Do I go about populating the Mountain without asking them if they know anything?

When I asked the paladin why it was abandoned he said that there were only rumours of a danger from the mountain. Should I develop that into a front?

Any help would be great, thanks.

Hi there

Hi there

Hi there,

I’m not sure if there’s rules against this or not, as I’m new to the community, but I was wondering if anyone might be running  a game soon? I’ve not played before and would love to play before bringing this to my main group.

I’m based in the UK and can only really do evenings or weekends, but I’d appreciate anyone that has room for a new guy to let me know. Thanks in advance and happy gaming!
