Hello Tavern! This is a class based on Shikamaru from Naruto.

I wrote this for a friend of mine, and I would like to share it with the community. You are allowed to change everything, and share it with your friends, I do not care. If someone finds any mistake, please let me know, as english is not my primary language. Any feedback is appreciated, and if someone changes the layout to make it look good, I would be happy to have a copy (I tried some templates, but could not make any of those work XD).

I am thinking of writing other classes always from Naruto, if this one works, so let me know what you think! 😀

Also tips on how to get players contributing in an already established world?

This is your classic “lots of bodies stitched together into a terrible abomination” created by a big bad lichess.

This is your classic “lots of bodies stitched together into a terrible abomination” created by a big bad lichess. I made it using the dwtools monster generator. Seems perhaps too durable, but it is definitely supposed to be something you try to avoid engaging. Always appreciate anyone’s thoughts, specifically on its custom move.

The Agony

Solitary, Huge, Terrifying, Amorphous

Bite, shred, and crush (d10 + 5 damage); 31HP; 4 armor;

Reach, Forceful

Instinct: Serve H’bala

Special Qualities: Hauntingly familiar faces

Moves:

Absorb corpses to heal

Grapple with arms and bite and rend

Spew sticky, congealed blood

Reveal a hauntingly familiar face

When you see a hauntingly familiar face emerge from The Agony, describe how you resist its horrific gaze. On a 10+ choose 1 and the sight steels your drive to fight the beast, take +1 forward; 7-9 choose 2.

-The sight is horrific beyond description. Gain the stunned debility, and you cannot bring yourself to look upon The Agony without defying danger.

-The face whispers words of betrayal to you; do something that will endanger your comrades.

-The face invites you to join it. Take 1d6 damage ignoring armor as your flesh begins to fuse with The Agony.

Here’s a PWYW product based on a couple of articles I wrote for GnomeStew last year. It’s a method I use to create adventures, and was used to create the adventures seen in issues 4 and 5 of my Dungeon World zine The Destroyer of Ages (available now on DTRPG) and The Frost Giant’s Gambit (available at the end of this month).

It may not be for everyone, but it has really helped me simplify the process of designing adventures.

How do I decide what happens if the cultist finish the bloodritual without the correct ingredients?

On tuesday, my players are making a bid to root out a horrible cult who have collected halfling souls to complete a ritual to open a portal to void between the stars to release the horrible Mother of All Dragons, Margul. Margul is the living embodiment of the Ur-Power of the Black Night.

The players are interested in restoring those souls to their rightful owners, who are now just listless pod-halflings.

Halflings sprang from the blood of the Black Jotun, Eir, when she battled Margul, and so their soul and blood carry lot of power.

Problem is, the cult is a couple of halflings short. Namely, the halfing thief Thalda and their halfling hireling. Having failed to kidnap the halflings, the cultleader, a horrible “vampire”, wants to substitute humans for halflings. He recons a rate of 6 humans to one halfling will at least call forth a messenger of the Black Night, that will herald it’s eventual release.

I have no idea if he’s right. He’s ancient and clever, but who knows when it comes to Ur-powers. It could fizzle, it could turn them all into vampires, it could just suck them into the void between the stars. Either way, it will probably collapse the entire dungeon underneath the rich part of town. What happens to the halflings without souls then? No idea.

I’m looking for input on how to decide this. Options I can think of:

– put up a couple of options, and roll a die of fate if it happens.

– Ask the players to describe one horrible thing each, either before or when it occurs

– Hope to god the players succed in stopping them.

Originally initiated by Tam H, there are now three dungeoneers (Colin Kierans and myself) hacking away to make this website the one-stop shop for Dungeon World playbooks on the interwebs!

Of course, it’s not a literal shop, we just link to the playbook on DTRPG or if it’s free, Google Drive/Dropbox/etc. You can sort by author, description, category, date added, etc – and even search our database, with real-time results! You can even comment to leave a short review of your thoughts and experiences with the playbook

(they aren’t there for discussion).

We’re currently adding as many as we can find, and are adding more all the time. Feel free provide suggestions (including any “must have” playbooks). If you don’t see a playbook here, that’s ’cause the website only two days old – we are steadily working through reddit, G+ and the wiki to find all of them.

Thanks for checking it out, and we hope it helps you find your next favorite playbook!
