So, I’m just brushing through the playbooks right now; I’m dead pleased to see some of the shoutouts in the moves. They make my inner geek happy. Right now, on my skim, I found “Sail the Skies” (Firefly? This may or may not be a reference), “Kid, Let Me Tell You About the Calamity”, and then the Walker’s Mirror’s Edge move. 😀

I’ve been obsessing about story and setting ideas for inverse world.

I’ve been obsessing about story and setting ideas for inverse world. They’re all percolating in my head waiting to ferment into something coherent and fun, but here’s one I want to share now.

What if each inverse world were a bubble of air in a massive structure that resembles and aero bar chocolate. All those worlds so close together, separated only by the “thin” crust, but still largely oblivious of each other?

Just to check, is it kosher to tweak the captain to turn it into sailing ship?

Just to check, is it kosher to tweak the captain to turn it into sailing ship? And if I did so would it be ok to post it up here? Thanks Brandon Schmelz and Jacob Randolph for these very cool playbooks, and I can’t wait to see the setting!

Can we talk about the Mechanic for a minute? I think this class is potentially much to strong.

Let’s take this configuration:

# Close weapon and 2 armor +H&S with INT

O Energy Cannon

O Jumper

O Aiming systems

No i can H&S, Volley and Spout Lore with Int and can make this my 16 stat.

Furthermore, if i roll well then the ammo restriction on my Energy Cannon doesn’t matter that much. I get the ammo back anyway…

Apparently piloting the Suit in a clever way is done with Int. So i can Defy Danger with it in a lot of times.

Now 3.5 of the basic moves run of INT. That is crazy powerful.

The jumpers give me much mobility and seem to be the most versatile. But this doesn’T have to be an issue because every class has a lot of mobility but anyway…

Now my main problem with the suit is: It has no weaknesses!

Of course it can take damage but there is no cost in using the suit so an Engineer will use it 98% of the time (you want to be a fan of him right?)

Can you attack the suit to make it take damage? Even then you can have an Engineering specialisation for an extra hitpoint AND always describe yourself taking the damage instead of the mecha suit.

Aiming systems is so good that i see no reason to take anything other then this option.

A deeper look at the Apocalypse World Powerarmor rules could help. There is a cost involved in using it.

What do you say?

Since this community is here, I thought I’d share what my intentions are with Inverse World.

Above, in the image, is my current campaign setting, Laerad (or Dungeon Wurm). Below is where I will place a version of Inverse World. (Yes, that is Sola as a fruit in the middle.) Some chunks of land will float, but the major “continents” will be held together by the roots which come from the ceiling of the world. Occasionally  the inhabitants will have to fend off invaders (galactic locusts and the like) who intend on eating the light-giving fruit.

Keep in mind that this is all stylized cosmology; in truth, these are two different and likely spherical worlds, but it’s fun to represent them this way. If you squint real hard, you may even see hungry Dis in the background somewhere…

I think this would be a good example of the kind of thing Inverse World could handle.
