So I’m looking to play a monk type character in an upcoming game. I was curious what my options were other than the Initiate and the themed basic playbooks.

I know I could basically flavor anything to that effect, but I’m just curious about playbooks I don’t know about.

In fact, maybe a more accurate question is: what kind of options are there for a “Far East” themed character?

So, let’s say I’m a Ranger who wants to use a tomahawk and knife to fight.

So, let’s say I’m a Ranger who wants to use a tomahawk and knife to fight. Since I have two weapons, that’s just handled in the fiction, right?

Or is there a tag I could put on one to show I’m using it to parry?

Does anyone have good tips or resources for including Lovecraftian elements into a game?

Does anyone have good tips or resources for including Lovecraftian elements into a game? Has anyone had success making the unknowable truly horrifying and frightening to players?

I imagine it relies a lot on suspense and tension in narrative and set up of scenarios, but I’m curious how others have done it. The main problem that I see is trying to mix Lovecraft’s flavor with what is essentially pulpy D&D (in feel). Thanks.

I have been helping Something Awful forums user Desty update his Merchant Prince playbook with drives, backgrounds, and a death move (courtesy of my pal David Gunnels)  because I really love this class. Problem is, I’ve hit a roadblock with the backgrounds.

I like the idea of backgrounds called “sheer luck” and “bootstraps” but I have no idea what they’d do. On top of that, I’m always looking for extra sets of eyes to look it over for mistakes and tweaks. I’d also like to fill out the look and name sections a bit more, but ran out of time due to working on Real Life stuff.

I welcome all feedback!

I vaguely remember reading about someone creating a Shadowrun hack for DW a while back.

Question about animal companions: How do I handle them as a player, and how do I handle them as a GM?

Question about animal companions: How do I handle them as a player, and how do I handle them as a GM?

As a player I find that I want to be able to dictate what the animal is doing all the time and I find it annoying when it gets knocked out of combat or hindered in a way that I think doesn’t follow the fiction. How are my animal’s attacks supposed to be handled?

As a GM, well, I’m not sure how I’d handle it because I haven’t played a game with someone using one.  Thoughts?

I guess this isn’t a specific DW question, but I’ll ask in case someone has hit the same problem.

I know Roll20 has the Soundcloud thing, and it works well, AND Roll20 has a Hangouts app, but it feels silly to open up Roll20 just to play music in the background. Using the YouTube app is a little clunky as well. I feel like this is the only thing missing from my DW game at the moment and I’m flummoxed.

Hey guys

Hey guys,

I am going to be running a game soon using the Number Appearing playbook and giving my players their pick from all the class books they can find. One of my players wants to be a little monster/Rumpelstiltskin type thing that uses wishes to entrap people. Think Clive Barker’s Wishmaster.

How would we go about reflecting this in play? Custom class? Custom move? Just something he can do?

David Gunnels my player, might be able to elaborate a little more.
