Hello, I’m a bit confused about how to use a Druid’s animal-form moves.

In a post on the DW forum, Sage states that no roll is needed when a Druid spends a hold to do one of their animal form’s moves. Thus, if a mouse Druid wants to sneak away, he automatically succeeds. If a wolf Druid wants to tear out an enemy’s throat he does it. So in essence, one shape-shifting roll leads to 1-3 automatic successes as long as the move falls in line with the animal form taken. Is all of that correct?

My second question is, can a Druid in a predatory animal form save their holds and roll a Hack and Slash attack instead? For example, if the wolf Druid’s moves are:

    -Growl to intimidate

    -Tear out an enemy’s throat

    -Track by sent

Can the wolf Druid decide to bite an enemy’s leg (instead of spending a hold to go for the throat) and if so, should he roll Hack & Slash for that action?

I was trying to think of the right move for a player to roll when they attempt to taunt an NPC into taking an aggressive action. For example, insult the ogre so he charges you without noticing the pile of traps you’ve set for him. Parley doesn’t really seem to fit so I created the following custom move:

Taunt Into Action

When you attempt to persuade an NPC into a particular aggressive course of action via insulting taunts, roll +CHA. *On a 10+, both. *On a 7-9, choose one:

…They take the action you desired

…They do not discern your ulterior motives

However, now I am thinking this might just be a specific example of the Defy Danger move. What do you think?

Can anyone tell me the difference between a “hard bargain” and an “ugly choice” as mentioned when Defy Danger results in 7-9?

They sort of sound the same to me and I can’t seem to find those terms further explained in the book. Can anyone share some examples of each?

Hello, I was just listening to a podcast of some people playing Dungeon World and they interpeted the volley rules differently than I so I’m posting here for clarification. When you roll a 10+ do you still reduce ammo? I had just assumed you did but it doesn’t explicitly say that in the rules and I kind of like their interpetation of not reducing ammo till you choose that option after a 7-9. That way archers and knife throwers can keep on doing their thing as long as their players keep rolling well.
