The Astrophage is a star vampire: they feed on young, forgotten or dying gods, and then burn up the ichor they’ve drunk to break and shape time and reality. They are soulless voids who draw the very warmth from the air around them, and most races ostracise or murder suspected Astrophages at birth, seeing them as dire omens. The parasitic ghulfish are alone in revering the walking voids, and treat them as great prophets.
They have three main move paths, which involve:
* the hunting and feeding of little deities
* the aspects of their devoured meals, and how these change the Astrophage’s base nature
* expending the energy of a god to truly astounding effect.
The Astrophage has moves focused around hunting, draining and finally devouring planar entities. Be prepared to take on the gods themselves, and exploit their blood and power to your own ends: Prince of Persia/Shenkt style moves for slowing/ stopping and accelerating time, as well as moves focused around distorting reality to make the Astrophage a shifting, blurred assassin. As the Astrophage develops and devours more powerful gods, they gain access to even stranger abilities…

Adrian Thoen is going to be writing a Lands of the Dead supplement for Pirate World; the Eternal Sea. I’ve seen a preview of it, and I reckon it looks totally awesome (one of the custom moves involves breaching a ship through into the afterlife). Here’s his words on it:
It’s an afterlife, a metaphysical eternal sea where dead sailors navigate the endless ocean, looking for a way to escape the nightmares of death and invade the living world. Along with it, have a few iconic locations that act as gateways to, and sometimes from the eternal sea – a giant whirlpool under a stormy sky, a cave on an island that rises above the waves only one day in the year, a mist that occasionally appears and spews out ghost ships
The Eternal Sea is going to be packed full of bombastic, powerful and dangerous mythical figures, plenty of ghost ships, and lots of interesting locations for the nearly departed to get into trouble with.
I can’t wait to see it. 🙂

Fanatics are crazy about whatever you decide. My favourite imagery is the captain (or first mate!) totally devoted to their ship and its laws, but they can be zealots for anything; volatile gods, royal families, dangerous churches or even natural stuff like fire or the deep ocean. I’d love to hear what Authorities you guys come up with, and what weird ceremonial weapons their champions will wield.
If you guys have wacky moves, reskins, Hireling ideas or pretty much anything, I’m intrigued!
There’s a few suggested Hireling profiles in the Hireling book, I’ll likely post these up later.
