I’m trying to wrap my head around campaign/adventure design. I’m visually minded so I’m trying to use a mind map to make sense of it all. Am I in the right ball park?

Hey folks, Although I’ve been creating maps for minis,  I also create generic maps without labels and plenty of blanks. I was wondering if it would be of any benefit or interest to the community if I post new maps that I create for my Patreon project here. specifically my Free Map Friday giveaway.

I’m currently writing up a location (Lazy Dragon Tavern.) do you create specific locations in the same way as a village, town, etc,? What about the major NPCs in the tavern such as regular patrons and the owner? I’m still really new to the system and trying to convert some of my Labyrinth Lord settings over.

Is there a list of DW hacks and where to find them? (specifically a Star Wars or a pulp adventure hack?)

So I’ve been trying to understand Dungeon World for about a year now. With out playing it, I’m not sure it will click. It seems like a great pick up and go sandbox type game. Is it possible to play/ convert Basic D&D/labyrinth lord/swords and wizardry adventures?

While reading through games like Savage Worlds, Fate, and Dungeon World, it seems like they play well as either a pick up style game or one shot game. I’m sure they work well as a campaign style game, but I wonder if they work even better under campaign conditions because of that “pick up” nature. If you play these games can you tell me if that is a fair assessment?

If that is true, how can that style of play be implemented into a D&D type game? Given that as I get older, I find that I have less time and patience for prep.

Thoughts?

P.S. I’m up for anyone teaching me the finer points of any of those systems.

Looking over the beta version, there is a lot of great information. Thus is how I would like all adventures to be written.

Are all play books as well detailed as this?
