Hey y’all!

Hey y’all!

Hey y’all!

I’ve been perusing the Tavern for a month or so now, and I’m a huge fan of the stuff that you all come together to create.

I’ve got a player that wants to put together a magic user kind of playbook, based on drawing random tarot cards. For example, if they drew a Knight of Swords, it deals a bit of piercing damage. The Heirophant may give sage advice, aiding to a WIS roll. That kind of thing.

We were discussing either creating an entirely new playbook, or modifying an existing one.

Do you Tavern dwellers have any advice? Any ideas that might help put together a new class, or any ways to modify an existing one that you might recommend?

Thanks!

  1. You honestly could use the wizard or magician and use the cards as your spells. Its just flavor.

Replace “Cast Spell” with “Draw Card” and each card has an ability.

  2. It could be interesting to use a regular deck of cards too. Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds, Spades all have different spell-like abilities, maybe getting “stronger” the higher rank you pull. Face cars are always more powerful and a joker lets you cast any kind of spell you need. If you’re interested in making an entirely new playbook, I think you could play with the color aspect… Hearts and Diamonds are different types of spells (maybe Healing and Support, idk…) but the Red Mage Move allows you to treat either as the other. Black Mage allows you to use Clubs or Spades interchangeably… That’s all just spit-balling.
