The adventure continues at “The Ruined Tower of Drazhu”!

This is a followup adventure to “The Curse of Drazhu” adventure starter I posted a few weeks ago. Created around my group’s choices on that starter, behold, a new adventure at “The Ruined Tower of Drazhu”. The party is hot in pursuit of a magical curse corrupting the land and they think it’s source may be in Drazhu’s long forgotten citadel. Will they risk dark magic and the servants of the spider god Ungu to solve the mystery waiting at the top of the tower? Will it help convince them if I mention that there is sure to be a buttload of treasure inside?! Check out the adventure to find out!

This draft is influenced heavily by the source material from Jason Morningstar as well as Jeremy Strandberg’s “Brightrock Barrow” from Lampblack and Brimstone’s “Perilous Deeps”.

Feedback and any suggestions to streamline, condense, and generally make it more original and awesome would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

  1. Wow. I like this alot. A classic dungeon distilled down to a Dungeon starter. I’m currently struggling with how to incorporate all the wonderful stuff my players came up with in the first session. I’ll definitely be taking some inspiration for this.

I might have some concrete feedback later.

  2. Asbjørn H Flø Glad you like it. I know with these kinds of modules it gets a bit dicey with how much to include and how much to leave to pure improv. I always go by the advice that it’s good to have some prep but if the players want to go a different way roll with it. I think it was Jason Lutes who wrote if the players are more interested in a swashbuckling adventure than a dungeon delve reskin your goblins as jungle gnomes and keep on going. Also, thanks for the feedback on the doc. I’m definitely going to incorporate some kind of countdown.

  3. Gerard Snow Thanks so much Gerard. I think the slave pits is a great introductory adventure. For me, I’m just hoping to broaden the world and create some fun places where the adventure could head next.

  4. Love this! My first adventure was The slave pit of Drahzu and Drahzu has figured prominently since. Even with everything that has happened and how built up he is I can see how these adventures could tie in.

  5. The first to face him think he’s dead as they are unaware of his Lich status. They did burn down his palace tho. The next character (my 7 yr old playing a goblin fighter) was hired by him to lead a team to retrieve his Demon Engine (of Ray Otus design). My boy loved the interview process, as he was approached by a half orc servant and lead to meet his prospective employer it never occurred to him to ask any questions, he just went along with it. So I stepped in as dad and said during job interviews you should ask questions of your own. First question he asks was “Who are you?”

My son played a Druid who helped burn down Drahzus palace. When he heard Drahzu introduce himself his jaw dropped! We played that encounter for an hour without rolling dice, one of the nicest play outs I’ve ever had.

  6. Greg Jones That sounds awesome. I love the cross-pollination going on there. I also love the fact that you were able to slyly slip a little father-son advice in there about good interview etiquette ;-).
