Fantastic, Andrew Huffaker. This reminds me so much of the “story games” that I used to play with my son when he was that age. We loved it. He’s now in middle school and plays D&D at the library as part of their teen activities and I’ll be runni g a group of his friends through a Dungeon World adventure ( Ray Otus ‘ Kazarak) for his birthday.

Atlas has been playing since he was about 3ish. To them, it’s not much different than just costume play with swords. Start implementing questions and have your kiddo describe what they do as well as show. My son some times will respond ‘arrrrg!’ but than I ask him what he wants it to accomplish.
