So I thought of this Dungeon/Maze/Forest labrynth idea but I’m sure it needs improvement.

Basically, The party goes into this enormous dungeon nobody knows the size of and tries to map it all out or claim some lost treasure. The plot twist is that it’s basically infinite and the only way to get out is for all but one of the party members to die.

I thought I might create some riddle or puzzle to solve that would break this curse and give the players a chance. Or it could be game about everybody working together but every man for himself last man/woman standing wins. What do you think? Do you like it,? How would you alter it?

  1. Well I want dying to suck. So players do their best not to die at all costs. But if you could create a couple ghost or wraith moves/compendium class so the dead could keep playing and help/harm the living players, that would be cool.

  2. One of the Saw movies had several people confined together and in each “room” one person died. The big twist in that one was that no-one had to die. If they’d worked together from the very beginning everyone would have gotten out alive (one room had a tub full of water needed to close an electrical circuit; if all them them stood in the tub everyone would get a little shock but no-one would die [or something like that, I don’t remember the details] but they threw 1 person in who died).

This isn’t exactly what you wanted, but might make an interesting twist.

  3. Brian Holland I was imagining solving some riddle or uncovering some mystery would be the key originally. But your Saw idea is interesting, will the players work together? Or kill each other? Intrigue will abound.

  4. Gerard Snow, the Saw thing was the first thing that came to mind when I read your post but I’m not sure how it would play unless you specifically said at the outset that characters may die and PvP may happen. It might be fun to try if everyone is on board! The puzzle would be finding out that things are easier if you work together instead of the more obvious seeming “sacrifice one of you to get to the next room”. If everyone gives a little blood then the chalice will fill and the door will open instead of filling the chalice with one person’s blood. The biggest problem is that players are much more intelligent than the characters in those movies who only exist to get us to the big reveal. I think the only way to do it would be to make all of the characters evil bastards who only care about themselves (which might also be a fun change of pace). IDK, I may try it some time, but it was really just musing LOL. Hope I didn’t derail your thoughts!
