I’ll be running Servants of the Cinder Queen at Revelation at the weekend (a PbtA themed con in Sheffield in the UK). Have you any advice on what level to pitch the characters at? I was thinking Level 2 so they have a bit more experience.

Hi Dom,
I’ve run level 0 and level 1 characters through SotCQ with good results. I imagine level 2 characters will work just fine since the DW power curve is not too dramatic.
Alternatively, you could start them out at level 1 and then give them a breather to level-up halfway through the session, so they get the fun of choosing a new move. If you haven’t read John Aegard’s “Dragonslaying on a Timetable,” I recommend it — good tips for timing and structuring things a tight session, easily adaptable to SotCQ’s improvisational format.
