Corrupter Ape (Intelligent, Organized, Stealthy, Terrifying)

12HP, 1 Armor

>Lash with barbed tongue d8 (1 Pierce, Reach)

The Corrupter Ape is native to several small islands in the

eastern Ascetas. Not truly a primate, the creature resembles a pale, hairless ape. The creature’s head lack eyes or features,

except a toothless mouth and long, barbed tongue. It will

attempt to create servants with it’s mutagenic venom, which

normally turns humanoids into zombie-like creatures.

Special Quality: Perfect Climbing.

Instinct: To Rule.

> Inject mutagenic venom

>Call mutant slaves

Note: In it’s native habitat, the Corrupter Ape is kept in check by larger predators that are immune to it’s venom. If introduced to a new environment, the creatures have the potential to become a plague upon the earth.

Noted, thanks! It attacks with it’s barbed tongue, and injects venom the same way. You’re absolutely right about switching special qualities though.

  2. Chris Stone-Bush Like why the mutagenic venom is terrifying? Or maybe another monster description on mutant slaves and why you wouldn’t want to see, smell or be one. 🙂

  3. Every instance of “it’s” in this writeup should be switched to “its”, with no apostrophe. I-T-apostrophe-S is an abbreviation for “it is”, not a possessive form. I hate to nitpick grammar, but this one bugs the hell out of me because it’s so basic.

  4. When injected by the venom; do the characters get a defy danger roll? What would the difference be between the toxin being a special quality versus a move. It seems it would work as a move. I.e. the player rolls a 5 on hack and slash. The tongue lashes out injecting the toxin ( a hard move). Does special quality mean any successful tounge attack auto infects?
