And since Hirelings serve as replacement characters i made some Class options for this Race:

Noble Rat

Thief: every time you enter a new settlement with a Rat Population you automatically know where they hide their valuables.

Ranger: If you take the role of Quartermaster on a perilous Journey every Person involved looses 1 Ration less.

Paladin: You are immune to all sickness. You never get ill from what you eat.

Wizard: You gain the Level 1 Spell “Summon Human” (Conjuration) ongoing

You Summon a generic Human with clothing of your choice. He is mindless but you can give him orders or control him directly when you touch him. Once he receives Damage or is revealed to be fake he vanishes.

What do you guys think?

  1. I don’t know that a Rat would make a good Paladin, but I also don’t know the reference of the Noble Rat, so that’s irrelevant. A funny boost for a Rat bard would be that his bardic knowledge is sewer systems or that when he comes across a group of rats they will always accept him into their warren for the length of his stay. Also the thought of a rat cleric worshipping a cheese god makes me laugh.

  2. The thief move feels a bit odd, unless rats primarily steal from each other. I’d make it something about being beneath notice. I mean, if they are. Like, “Only rats will believe you’re up to no good, absent obvious evidence to the contrary (weapons, stolen goods, obvious poison).”

  3. Paul Arezina hmm. You are right. Its a bit weird. The Rats in my System are mostly close to mindless animals though. Noble rats are the exception. They are the mind behind Rat swarms and have culture and breed rats in strategic positions, build armies to defend larger swarms, things like that.

So i think it would make sense to know where Rat swarms hoard their valuables in case of emergencies.

But i like your move too.. maybe i will move around the Moves a bit and use your idea too.
