In Freebooters, you may Burn Luck points 1:1 to increase your dice roll, including when rolling up a character’s HP during creation.

Ability Scores are said to never be able to drop below 3 – is this the same for Luck? One of my players wishes to spend ALL of their Luck points to gain the most HP they can to start.

Thanks in advance!

  1. My understanding was that you could only ever burn 1 luck point on any given roll.  I could be wrong.  Looking at page 15 in the book, it says

    “BURN LUCK

When you have made any roll except

a +LUC roll, you may burn 1 Luck to

raise or lower the result of that roll by 1.”

which makes me think there is a limit of 1 Luck spent on each roll.

  2. John Marron Same here. One luck point can be burned on the HP roll for one point of HP. Also, I wouldn’t allow a player to burn anything below 3.

  3. To follow up, limiting the +1 is specifically in there because I didn’t like the way Luck would get so quickly used up in DCC RPG. And yeah, I don’t allow any ability score, including Luck, to go below 3.
