I wonder why these awesome starter adventures use a format that’s different from the Grim Portent/Impending Doom…

I wonder why these awesome starter adventures use a format that’s different from the Grim Portent/Impending Doom format as per the DW handbook. They play great just like that. Dishing the rules work or am I seeing it the wrong way?

  1. You use a Starter to get started on your first session/one-shot. You write grim portents/impending dooms after your first session, once you know what your players have latched onto or foolishly ignored. The former is designed not to step on the toes of the latter.
