Looking at Sean Winslow  and his very cool stuff for Torchbearer, I’m kind of surprised that no enterprising techie hasn’t written an algorithm that auto-generates Campaign Fronts, dangers, Grim Portents and Impending Dooms.  Like an awesome computer generated Mad-Lib for campaign and adventure ideas.

Heck, I’d take a program of auto-generating steadings and resolving steading conflicts as well…

  1. Yeah, random is cool, though DW draws so heavily from player input that I wouldn’t want to take away their agency. The Front and its Dangers are part of a living, breathing world affected by the character’s actions. Some things are random, sure, but it’s all also responsive.

  2. I believe I have an InspirationPadPro table for random steadings, and another bare-bones table for NPCs. I haven’t used them in awhile, but they’re easy enough to construct.
