Extended playbook question- I have a new player interested in playing a character with a complicated relationship with a hive of spirit bees or wasps (not a problem because we are playing in an animistic setting). Does anyone have any playbook suggestions? I was thinking about just setting him up with a cleric with a little help from the awesome supplement Class Warfare, and though the Channeler from the likewise rad Grim World might work, there is already one in the party. Maybe important to note that there is already a fighter, a ranger, and a thief in the party as well as the aforementioned channeler. What out there do y’all think would be the most fun to play?

  1. I thought about the druid, but while pretty awesome, I feel like the playbook is fairly narrowly focused on shape changing, and I haven’t come up with a satisfying narrative bridge to that central conceit that ties that ability  to being empowered by a spirit hive. What do you think?

  2. Mage with Spell Focus: The Hive (aligned: swarming, venom, working together; opposed: emotions, individuality).

(You can probably come up with better aligned/opposed options, but that’s off the cuff.)

  3. If you contact David Guyll I bet he would let you playtest it. The classes and rules are in the final playtesting stages. It’s based loosely on the shaman from D&D 4e, with much more of the historical roots of the “shaman” added back in. I am playing a Shaman right now that has a shark spirit companion.
