What kind of playbooks would you recommend, from any source, if I wanted to run a more Final Fantasy tyoe game?

What kind of playbooks would you recommend, from any source, if I wanted to run a more Final Fantasy tyoe game? Specifically FF4 and FF6 (FF2 and FF3 in America), plus maybe some FF Tactics?

  1. I feel like a broken record sometimes, because I just parrot this so often, but I honestly have to push Class Warfare hardcore. The toolkit approach to creating characters is my absolute favorite way to play Dungeon World. And you really can build almost any kind of character. You could make a Gau or Strago style character with the Blue Mage, lots of rogue abilities for Locke, a few more crazy warrior types that could (sort of) emulate Cyan, and you could do interesting things making a Warrior with one Magician specialty to throw together some “Blitzes”.

  2. I might go that direction Kristopher Miller; these are newish players and I want to give them something already made without me having to do it.

  3. Hm, that presents a kink. I’m not sure what to suggest then. Honestly, the base classes can do a good job covering standard fantasy tropes, and if you want, once the players are more comfortable, you can introduce things like Class Warfare specialties as Compendium Classes. It’s specifically made to do just that as well. Otherwise, I’m not sure. Best of luck to ya!

I think, in order to reach the sort of more broad abilities that FF characters have in 4 and 6 especially, I would allow EVERY SINGLE PLAYBOOK to have one Multiclass advance move where they can pick a move from any other class. That way you can have your fighter that shoots spells on occasion, y’know?

  4. The channeler from Grim World, to add a flexible spell toting red mage.

the Dragon Mage, making up for the Dragon Knight (multiclassed as you see fit)

Is FF VI the one where you learned on the Veldt? If so, druid, with some combat push
