  1. Just have fun.  If you miss a rule here and there, its not a big deal.  Write down names and motivations that come to light through your shared world making so that you can draw on them late.  It may take a little bit of extra time to do that the first few times you play, but it will get easier.

  2. I think you picked a good rule set to start with. Like Thomas said, “Just have fun”. That is more important than anything else.

You may just want to keep initial encounters rather small and build up the complexity over time.

  3. When starting with new players, especially ones who have never played an RPG before, I often don’t give them the Basic Moves sheet. I find it only ends up confusing them. Just give them their character playbook and explain only enough to let them make informed decisions. Dont try to explain everything at once.

During play really encourage the players to narrate or describe what their characters are doing. Keep most of the mechanics “behind the curtain” at first. When they trigger a move, simply tell them what to roll with and then narrate the results. If the player gets to make a choice, present them with those choices verbally; I’ve found that pointing out moves on the sheet only confuses players, at least at first. After they’ve triggered moves a few times and seem to be getting the hang of things, then give them the Basic Moves sheet.

  4. Main thing. DONT PANIC . I was in your shoes a few weeks back.

According to my group I’m doing fine and they are having a blast. I’m a little bit nervous about today’s session but I know my group is cool enough to let me know anything I need to improve on.

Also I find that after each session asking everyone whatbthey thought was good and what they thought felt a bit off helps

  5. Make sure they dont die in the first 5 minutes and think of the plan that the enemie has, like you know how you plan out your day play by play, do that with the monsters
