  1. +1 for Dropbox. Their mobile app generally outshines stand-alone .pdf readers as a .pdf reader. For reading two-column .pdfs (with or without page textures and art), I love my iPad Air the best.

  2. Dropbox, Google Drive, Ubuntu One, even Bitcasa are all free and let you read your documents on your tablet and phone. You definitely don’t want to store anything important on just your tablet. One drop or spilled drink could wipe out your library.

  3. Love dropbox and google drive. I just load my PDFs on a mini sd card, plug it into my nook and bam…there are my RPGs! Also works on many Android tablets, btw!

  4. I use a Google Nexus tablet, Dropbox to store all the files and Montano reader (free) to open them. Works amazingly.

Google Drive is also a fine choice, but I like the way Dropbox syncs to my laptop filesystem.

  5. All Android devices have a mini USB port for data and charging. You can use any $2 USB cable with them.

My current tablet is a Nexus 7 but my next will be one of the new octacore Nexus 8s or Galaxy Tabs because I like horsepower.

  6. Tim Jensen is right, but it’s a little misleading because you can’t plug a USB drive into that mini USB port, which it sounds like Erik Buchanan wants to do. you’d still need either a computer or an internet connection as a go-between for anything with mini-usb only. As far as I know, anyway.

  7. I have a half – dozen adapters and cords laying around but I’ve never tried plugging a USB drive into a tablet or phone. Cloud storage is way easier, but it might work. Experimentation is needed.

  8. You can create a LAN at home very easily, just get hold of an old WiFi network adapter/ADSL box. Many people who’ve had the internet for a while will have a spare one somewhere. With this LAN and DropBox you can keep your files on a desktop and access them from a tablet. You can even print from the tablet with a network printer.

  9. My phone (Galaxy S4) can read usb drives, but it’s awkward. A little like filling up your car with kerosene. I would just do what Darryl Greensill says, and set up your own wifi Lan with Dropbox on your tablet and PC.

  10. I use an Asus Transformer Infinity t700. It’s a 10 inch tablet with hd display so it shows all of my gaming pdfs very well, and with the attachable keyboard it double as a laptop for writing notes. I get around 20 hours of batter life with active use assuming I have the keyboard on (more like 8 without it). It has a USB port, micro sd, and standard SD for easy transfer and storage.

That said, I’ve had it for years. If I were to buy one today is probably get the Note 10.1. I love my note 3 phone, and the s pen makes taking notes on pdfs or paying online super easy.

Also, I agree with the others about dropbox.com, I use it for everything.
