Stellar Conflict, the Space Opera Dungeon-World Hack.

After being asked about this a few days ago, I checked with everybody whose work I pillaged for parts, and praise be to creative commons, I can now share most of my lumbering Star-Wars-Esque conglomeration with you, the Tavern.

(the bit I can’t share I will be able to share once Inglorious comes out)

  1. well, the Psi Adept can be a jedi, if you look at their moves and possible equipment…

…or it can be an entirely different thing. These can be used for Star Wars, or for other stuff.

  2. they both deal a d10, like their origin classes (paladin and barbarian). The if you look closely, you’ll see the 0 and the 8 are similar but different. It’s the one failing of the TIE-fighter font, which otherwise looks lovely :T

  3. Hey Jarrah James, I’m here again. I’m about to change my campaign using the Star Wars Worlds hack from AW, to your masterpiece. But I have just one doubt:

I’m looking at the Psi Adept class now, isn’t the option “Manipulate small objects, no heavier than 1 weight and no further than Near range, as if with your own hand.” redundant if compared with Telekinesis?

I mean, why’d you spend your Focus on this option if you can move objects with Telekinesis?

  4. there is a difference between throwing something around willy nilly and being able to manipulate as if with your own hand.

at least that is how I read it.

  5. Alisson Vitório  Focus lets you feed Padme a slice of space pear, but you need telekinesis to throw battle-droids into a wall. Generally, if you have both options, you’ll always use the telekinesis move unless you really really really need to auto-succeed at something very low-powered. For the Adept, the Focus move is mostly there for powering the telekinesis move. There was another more martial psionic class I couldn’t put up yet because it uses some concepts from an as-yet unreleased DW supplement, which also had the Focus move, but no telekinesis move.

  6. Alisson Vitório yeah, that’s a bit of inconsistency I noticed yesterday. Ummm… Probably d6. So they can have a decent chance of laser-swording somebody to death.

  7. They were re-purposed from Planarch Codex. Basically, a character has moves like a monster or NPC would have, and can spend their hold to just do them. An example: a four-armed alien who grew up working on salvage ships might have the moves “use multiple limbs with great dexterity” and “salvage even the most damage object”

  8. Alisson Vitório if you use these things for a game, I’d love to hear about it. Particularly as nobody has tested the new Scoundrel or Assassin yet.

  9. I really loved all the changes you’ve made Jarrah James ! I have a few comments about one or two specific excerpts.

There’s something I particularly disliked, there are some ship moves that require +STR or CON rolls, I couldn’t figure out how this is possible on the fiction.

PS.: To show my love, I’m starting a translation project with the brazilian community called “Star Dungeons”. We’ll unite to bring your stuff for the brazilians.

  10. the +STR or +CON moves were basically there to make every stat useful in ship combat. I personally think of STR and CON as representing “willingness to be forceful/endure” as much as they represent “ability to be forceful/endure”.

Taking an example from normal dungeon world – there’s a class called the Giant. That class ALWAYS has greater physical strength than any other character, but their actual Strength stat could be an 8 – they have heaps of might, but aren’t great at using it well.

Maybe that sheds some light on my intent here?

  11. Jarrah James I’m going to try out your stuff tomorrow. It looks great, the ship stuff especially is impressive.

Since this post has been around for awhile now I was wondering if you’ve created any other materials in the meantime for the game? I’d love to take a look if you have.
