Would you be satisfied if a class about self transformation only gave you new tags when you transform; not new moves or spelled out special abilities? At least at level 1 that is.

So let’s say you take a SnakeMan transformation that gives you

flexible,venomous,extra sense

  1. That is interesting, i found most tags to be self evident; especially when they don’t have “rules meaning” accociated with them. So burning is pretty clear. However precise is not.

  2. Right, its I figure out how to apply the tags to the situation, meaning i get to think about it rather than just rolling H&S and doing an extra +d4 damage while something scary, or whatever.

  3. +d4 damage is boring. +d4 damage when you do something specific/cool is healthy. Its more of an incentive for you to do something specific. There might be a move later on that allows you to do extra damage when transformed (because people like these moves still) but that is about the extend of it.

Giving you the ability to do new things is way cooler.

  4. What do you think about level progression just opening up additional tag slots? Maybe at level 1, you can get OR OR . Then as you progress you can take on additional tags like and . – Think winged guy with fangs 🙂

  5. “Oh, you’re in your snake form while Taking Watch?  Go ahead and roll +1 for your enhanced sense of smell / mild tremor-sense.”

“Can I Defy Danger with Charisma to seduce the kidnapper?  If I can trick them into kissing me I could try to inject some venom and get the upper hand.”

“The jail bars are only six inches apart?  No problem!”

Yeah, I could easily see that being great as long as the playstyle doesn’t degrade into a ‘Hack and Slash and Hack and Slash and Hack and Slash’ format.
