How would people feel about the return of Class Week! ?

The Cleric and Barbarian are still left and there are now a bunch of other classes.

Would you still be interested in taking a week to focus on specific classes? Do you want to talk about the Cleric and Barbarian? Should we refocus again on the original classes or move on to third party material?

Druid Week for example was highly beloved but there are a bunch of new people in the community that may want to contribute.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Would anyone like to take it off my hands and run it going forward?

Speak to me tavern!

  1. If you have no idea, what i am talking about:

Class Week was a week to focus on a specific class and discuss their roles in the fiction, cool stories, their moves, custom content created for them, tips for playing them or GMing with one in the group etc.

  2. For the record: I basically stopped because i felt the interest wasn’t as high as i hoped and also the year was over (good point to end it)

  3. Also, talking about classes from the core game allows “everyone” to chime in since you wouldn’t need to own extra material. Unless we get help from the third party people…

Adrian Thoen i think would totally be up for it ^^

  4. This would be a great thing to do every single year (or every six months even). I wasn’t here during the first one, so I’d really like to be in a new one with all the core classes (Barbarian included).

  5. Would be fun & can even get into doing variants (oddly not put in the core book about mixing the 3 other races in more classes) where you could have certain race choices like having an elf priest with some unique move instead of what the human or dwarf have to start.

The dwarf, elf & halfling on drivethrurpg aren’t bad but still roughly one class for each instead of doing that plus another page of text with further ideas on putting them in other classes with certain weapons or changes they might feel more fits the race using.

  6. It’s a fantastic idea. I might suggest 2 a month maybe? Especially if the discussion seems slow on any particular class. Toward the end of the cycle or possibly as the 2nd class in a month to go outside the core classes? Personally I’d like to see racial classes get some love.

  8. Tim Franzke I love class week, definitely bring it back! There’s still lots to talk about the core classes, particularly the Cleric and Barbarian.

I’d absolutely love to have a class week that focuses on some 3rd party classes too, The Mage is a popular 3rd party class, but it does have a lot of questions around it.

All of my third party classes are available for free in GoogleDoc form, though I’ll have to go through at some point and make sure they are as current as the PDF version on DTRPG. Once they’re published it’s easier to directly edit the indesign file than starting with the Gdoc.

At any rate, the Gdocs for my 5 classes can be found at the following link; comments are on for all of them so any questions people have can be asked there as well! I love getting questions, it helps me refine ideas and make stuff better.

  9. I’d happily get involved in something like this. Always good to hash out content with others, and even as a new player, would be good to see what people are producing.

Adrian Thoen Could I get permission to check out some of your classes please?

  10. Oh yeah, more explanation. Class Week used specific hashtags to find discussions about it later on. So see #druidweek   #fighterweek   #wizardweek   etc. to see what we did. Sadly there is no collected document, putting together everything from specific weeks.

  11. Lord Khaalis, doing 2 a month; with one official one 3 party sounds like a good way to go. However i don’t know if i would have the energy to push both each month. The third party stuff would need to be done by someone else.

To get these things rolling there needs to be a lot of content front and center and doing that for half a month simply is not doable in my current position (also it helps if one prepares for the week beforehand so that there is a bit of sturcture and content to be posted).

So would someone be interested in taking charge of third party class week? (still called Class Week of course ^^)

  12. Tim Franzke if people are interested in talking about one of my classes for a week I’d be happy to put something together and rustle up some content.

I know a lot of players hack the spellslinger so the wands are pistols. I could knock together a version that officially does this and we could have a discussion about that.

Along with a few conversations on what implications the class has for the game world.

If people continue to be interested, I can run a few more 3rd party weeks, concentrating in classes that are widely available or have free versions.

  13. When we run out of Adrian Thoen’s classes, we could move on to Jacob Randolph’s. I’ve also got a fair number of base classes floating around, if we need more third-party stuff.
