I thought.i would use the day to write at least 1 new move for every (base) class. Anyone want to join me in this endeavour?

Edit: My goal with these is it that these moves should provide a new way to go down on with the class but still makes sense within it. Like a more tactical and leadery Fighter.

  1. Fighter 2-5

    Encouraging Words

When you command an ally to stand in defence of someone and tell them how best to do it, they take +your CHA ongoing in armor while doing so

  2. OK you asked for it 🙂

    Thief

    When you move stealthily roll+Dex.

On 10+ you are not perceived

On 7-9 They know something is moving somewhere and are alerted. You may still get away with it.

  3. Bard

    Social Engineering

When you spend time in a civilized area and take its feeling and condition, ask the GM about one change you want to happen in this community. They will tell you what needs to be done for this change to happen.

  4. For the Cleric: Touchstone

When you go among people, offering the precepts of your Deity, they respond by giving you food, shelter, companionship, trust, and any small thing you need, worth 50 gold or less, generously or grudgingly according to their nature.

When you go among people, exploiting their Faith in the precepts of your Deity, they respond by giving you food, shelter, companionship, trust, any small thing you need, or even straight-up gold, worth up to 50 coin. They won’t suffer you forever.

When you go among people, acting within the Precepts of your Deity, they respond by spreading your name everywhere they go, to everyone they meet, with admiration, revulsion, fear, or contempt, according to their nature.

Note that this move cascades nicely into Divine Guidance, and will more than likely tap into your Alignment XP award too.

  5. All 3 as one move? And i also really like copying that move here.

It also reminded me of the move i wanted to copy from Sagas for the Cleric. Just need to find the best way to do this in DW.

  6. Wizard’s Apprentice

When you expose an interested youngster to your magic, you may spot a talent for it in them. Roll +Int. *On a 10+, you can see the nature of their talent and something of their destiny – tell the GM. *On a 7-9, you can discern whether or not they have “it”, but the detail is shrouded in mystery – the GM may tell you as much as they wish.

  7. [I was looking for something really powerful (but perhaps risky and involved) for a Bard… somewhat akin to the Wizard’s Ritual move in that it’s a bit of a big performance – I’ve actually just noticed that it might build nicely on the Social Engineering move above – but it’s a bit more dramatic.]

I’m not wholly certain of what I’m trying to do here, but the idea is that a truly great Bard can sing things into reality, altering the slowly unfolding course of the future through tapping into the collective imaginative psyche of the people… The bad king will fall. The drought will turn. The trade caravans will return. The dread forest will empty of shadow. But to attempt such a feat is to risk much.

    “Mythic Force”

When you sing of a better world, drawing upon the energy of a mythic wellspring, a powerfully charged audience, and a strong archetype, roll +WIS. *On a 10+ your words bend the future in ways that are subtle and significant but may not immediately become apparent. *On a 7-9 your words trigger changes and counter-changes. Choose one, the GM will explain as much as they wish:

    – a front is temporarily arrested or set back a step

    – a portent is understood for what it is by some

    – your song does not attract the irritated attention of the meddlesome fates

  8. I like that a lot for a bard 6-10 move. However e third option in e move is weird. What if I choose that one, what effect does the übersong have?

  9. yeah – I haven’t got it right yet.

The idea was that if you choose (1) or (2) then you run the risk of letting the GM make a move related to (3) – you get a success of the kind you are most interested in but you also get a complication of the GM’s choosing. If you choose (3) then you prevent the complication, but you allow the GM to choose the nature of the changes that you have wrought – whether your success is manifested in the form of changes to portents or fronts or something else…

  10. Cleric:

    Favoured Soul

When you petition your deity they look kindly at you. The GM will offer you a choice between 3 different boons or pieces of information

    Smite the Foul

When you Turn Undead, on a 10+ you immediately destroy every undead within reach. On a 7-9 you  daze any intelligent undead and cause mindless undead to flee

  11. Two old Druid moves of mine:

    Blood Blessing

When you paint an ally with the fresh blood of an animal you killed in a ritual, choose one of it’s moves. The painted ally get’s 1 hold that they spend 1 for 1 to use that move as if they were that animal.

    Summon Animals

When you send out a call to the animals of the area to a task for you, say what you want them to do and roll+WIS. On a 10+ choose 3

     On a 7-9 choose 2

    – The effect you desire comes to pass

    – They arrive nearly instantaneously

    – You avoid paying natures price

    A new one:

    Form of the Brother

    requires Animal Companion

When you transform into the shape of your animal companion don’t roll, you automatically get 2 hold.

    (is this a good idea?)

  12. Hey Tim, I think form of the brother is goos as a 6-10 level move, not a starting move. Also, the player should develop an additional ‘Tell’ due to their ease of transformation.

OK, another theft for the Thief of course:

    Appraising eye

When Discern Realities, on a success, in addition to your other questions, you can ask this too:

    • What’s the most beautiful, the rarest, or the most valuable thing here?

  13. Looks like i am not actually able to finish this project :/

No idea for the Wizard (did so much for that already)

No idea for the Paladin (they are hard to do. The nly idea i had wasn’t very interesting)

Ranger – something with providing coverfire, but i didn’T find a way to make it work…

Didn’t even think about the Barbarian until now…

No idea for the Thief right now. Maybe something with providing distractions…

  14. Wynand Louw to come back to that Stealth move.

How does it work when there is a Sentry with tremor sense?

Thief: I see the guard but stay in the shadows and slowly approach him, i roll my Stealth Move right?

GM: no. You are not approaching that guy stealthily!

    Thief: Why is that?

GM: Well he has tremor sense and will sense you stepping closer.

    That is not fun.

Thief: I see the guard but stay in the shadows and slowly approach him, i roll my Stealth Move right?

GM: no. You are not approaching that guy stealthily!

    Thief: Why is that?

GM: You don’t know. But it is not triggering the move according to what i have prepped.

    That is not fun either.

  15. Yea I see what you mean. It is like a fighter trying to Bend Bars Lift Gates when the gate weighs two tons… “But I rolled a 10!” “Sorry it weighs 2 tons”

  16. While the fiction determines the applicability of a move, I think a GM has to balance being a fan of the characters with making the game exciting. I wouldn’t expect most sentries to possess tremor sense, or if they did then it would be common knowledge and stealth might be replaced with some act of deception to mislead a sentry into thinking they sensed something nearby. Just my 2 cents.
