I just pointed a friend at the http://www.dungeonworldsrd.com website so he could browse the rules and see if it’s a game he’d be interested in playing, and he says that his antivirus (Avast) is throwing up all kinds of virus warnings. I don’t recall whether Sage and Adam have anything to do with the rules being posted on this site, but it seems like a potential problem they should be aware of. (I figure it has to do with all the advertising banners on the page, which would be out of their control anyhow.)

  1. Heard back from John Reyst:

Apparently there is a known issue with AVAST that detects URL redirects as malware. See http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=235875 for an explanation. The site is hosted by Google so it’s “real” address is https://sites.google.com/site/ dungeonworldsrd/ but I have a DNS redirect setup so that the domain name http://www. dungeonworldsrd.com/ redirects to https://sites.google.com/site/ dungeonworldsrd/ behind the scenes. Again, the site is hosted BY Google, and Google itself checks and confirms every site it hosts for such things. This is an issue with how AVAST is reporting the redirect behind the scenes. I suspect you won’t get that same alert if you visit the site via the https://sites.google.com/site/ dungeonworldsrd/ address.

Edit: (I added spaces to keep the links showing the full address rather than just providing hyperlinks which don’t explain the difference between the 2 addresses.)
