Hey Taverners.

Hey Taverners.

Hey Taverners. My first game took place in my hometown, and I converted all the familiar locations that my friends and I knew into post-apocalyptic dungeons and adventures.

I’ve been inspired by all of the expansions, playbooks,  I’ve seen lately, and I’m hoping to contribute myself someday.

I’ve been tossing the idea around of releasing a HomeTown Conversion Kit for dungeon World. Would anyone be interested in this? I haven’t organized all my notes, but here’s the pitch:

  1. I think the idea is intriguing but I don’t think I would ever take the time to convert my home town. My town isn’t that interesting and I enjoy far flung worlds. However, I would be more inclined if this were a Zombie style game instead of Fantasy.

Are you saying the customer/user creates 3 playbooks per mini-setting or would you provide playbooks based on typical town settings? From what I hear, playbook creation is a science that most folks will really struggle with. If I have to create my own, I admit I’m a bit scared to do so.

  2. Hmmm….Zombie World eh? I never played a zombie game. But I had a few modern era classes started that I could use. I’ll fiddle with it over the next few days. What would you want from a zombie game? I would think that Apocalypse world would work better than Dungeon World.

  3. I’ve always wanted to use this move with guns:

Whenever you aim and fire a gun at an enemy, roll Xd6 where X is the number of bullets fired. For every dice that is:

5,6 cause +2 damage to your target

3,4 cause +1 damage to your target

2, bullet misses, causing no damage

1, bullet ricochets, causing 2 damage to self, ally, or hitting something fragile.

  4. Apocalypse World could be great for a Zombie game. So could Dungeon World though. All you would really have to do is change the equipment list, maybe introduce a move specific to Guns, using Volley for throwing or rigging devices intended to launch things. Most zombie games are full of combat, full of investigation, and lots and lots of MacGyvering items together. You could also give it a fantasy slant if you wanted to but introduce some tags that would better reflect the vast variety of makeshift weapons, armor, and items possible. I like that gun move David =D
