A question for the DW veterans.

A question for the DW veterans.

A question for the DW veterans. If you have a Cleric tending the wounded in a safe place, and they want to heal someone. Do you still have consequences for 7-9 results? Do you just not allow the player to choose things like “Unwanted Attention” in that case?

  1. Magic is always dangerous, so yes I make them roll.

The Unwanted Attention doesn’t have to be immediate either. Maybe the next day the guards are more aware. Why? Because their shaman felt the magic your cleric was using. Have some fun! Think of some longer reaching unwanted attention moves can be a great way to show off your enemies power and knowledge.

  2. “Unwanted attention” can always be an ornery Deity tired of getting pestered for healing energies.. 😛 Time to reconcile…have fun with it.

  3. Nothing says; the enemies scrying spell was successful like “You Attract Unwanted Attention”. You could argue the magical energies rouse hostile spirits, or the positive healing magic acts like a beacon to undead, lots of options not all of which need to bear down on the players at that very moment the die is cast.

  4. First thing I do when I start a new campaign with a Wizard or Cleric is discuss their paradigm – talk about their god and their magic and then brainstorm 10-15 things that a 7-9 result of that nebulous nature might mean. Keep it in my back pocket. It’s very easy to spin “unwanted attention” into a whole Danger for your Campaign Front.

  5. Adam Koebel thanks for the advice. I will definitely work with them on their paradigm and will make a list for prep. Speaking of prep, are there other small lists like this you would recommend for DW? I usually have a list of a few names by race and gender, and maybe a few location names.
