I’m currently doing a major overhaul of The Sorcerer, since I got some inspiration on what to focus their fiction on. It’s basically magical hormonal teenager with poor impulse control and a temptation to use your power selfishly.

I’m adding comments on the changes I make so I can keep track of my design thought process. Feel free to make comments of your own!

  1. Xpost from SA: I love the image and idea of an emotional powerhouse, but I think sorcery is too broad a move and suits a more general magic user. If you focused it to the emotion, I think it’d be a much stronger move. e.g.

When you channel raw emotion into raw power, describe the emotion and roll +Int. On a 10+ the emotion changes reality as you desire, 7-9 you lose control and your rationality is subsumed to the emotion for several moments/ the emotional magic has zealous results, and manifests your darkest desires.

Something like rage could be used to inflict pain, lashing out indiscriminately on a 7-9. Envy could steal the gifts of others and arm you with them. Let the dark side flow through you!

Other than Sorcery, I love the class!

  2. I think the current draft is now in a playable state, so feel free to give it a go!

There will likely be future revisions to this document, and feedback from players is the best source for those changes.
