  1. Bonds and alignment are exactly that… and  yes, like in a Burning Wheel game ,you can (and have to) change them when you play.

Yes, they are different and less “central” than Belief and Istincts.

  2. Simplest version is replace the 3 end-of-session questions with 3 Beliefs. More complicated: remove alignments too and add something like 1 XP for accomplishing a Belief, instead of just 1 XP for pursuing it.

  3. Yeah, I think I like the idea of replacing the three end of session questions. Not for DW necessarily but for certain styles of game it could work well to have the players define what they get XP for. I guess that could be open for abuse if worded poorly.

Will require some more thought. Thanks for the comments gentlemen.

  4. We’re currently using a system where each character has 3 beliefs and marks xp at end of session for each belief they acted on during the session. We’re only a few sessions in so I can’t make any real conclusions, but it’s been well received so far.

  5. Did you consider trying to use Instincts and Traits or did you feel they wouldn’t fit well with DW? I’m still on the fence. I am most attached to Beliefs from the three BITs.

  6. I felt the same way about Instincts. Seems like the sort of thing that would sidestep fiction by giving you an automatic reaction to a given situation or stimuli. I ask because I’m developing a custom experience system. I’m very happy to see Beliefs being used in this way. Thank you very much for sharing your experience ^_^
