Hey Johnstone Metzger , in Adv on Dungeon Planet what’s the difference intended to be between a Raygun and a laser pistol/rifle ?

Also, a Magnacoil Handgun is a gauss weapon, I’m guessing? Lightweight ammo accelerated by electromagnets?

  1. The difference is that one is called a raygun and the other is called a laser pistol, because writing the same name for a fake weapon all the time is boring. Also it encourages people to put a variety of different weapons in their game and talk about how they work. I am a firm believer that you should define how weird magic powers and fake science work instead of just saying “it does a thing,” because the bad guy having a shield that “blocks Z-rays” is much better than the bad guy having a shield that “blocks your PC’s powers.”

Yeah, I was assuming Magnacoil meant it shoots bullets through magnetism, but beyond that it’s up to you. You could always misread it as Magmacoil if you want to, that would be pretty neat.
