What is the Ranger’s animal companion (either your character or the Ranger in your game’s character)?

The Ranger in the game I’m DMing has a little ankle biter dog, who mainly distracts enemies and latches onto their, well, ankles. The Cleric threw it at a flying enemy one time.

On a PbB game I’m playing (Number Appearing) our Gnoll Ranger has a baby dire hyena that’s pretty untrained.

  1. Giovanni Lanza that is an amazing animal companion. Well done!

For me, I’ve got an elven ranger with a raven bird thing as his. Helps in the fighting by distracting an enemy to make them turn towards the arrow heading for their face.

  2. I’m loving playing Final Laughter (the young dire Hyena) because of the ‘stubborn’ weakness and I’m really looking forward to taking the advanced move that makes him a big boy when/if we survive that long 🙂

  3. Oh, in the game I run my player has a large, very intelligent ‘Bloodraven’, which are slightly larger than normal ravens, their feathers have a reddish sheen, and are generally considered harbingers of death. He named it Archon after the ‘angels’ from the history of the game, because he thinks it may have saved his soul. Looking forward to further playing with that.

  4. Our ranger has a pretty traditional wolf as companion, but its ‘forgetful’ weakness is a joy in play. The ranger has learnt not to use the wolf to guard the prisoner. He’s just not focused.

  5. I honesty rolled my ranger for everything including animal companion and got a cat. The ranger is a gunslinger, so the thing hangs out in one of her ammo bags and doesn’t take shit from her.
