I will be running a IRL Dungeon World game this Thursday – here are the classes i will bring to the table

– Core 8 + Barbarian

– Initiate

– Inverse World Captain, Lantern, Skydancer, ( maybe Walker, Collector)

– (maybe the Artificer with a few tweaks)

– (maybe the Mage)

  1. I’d say the Mage/Artificer/Priest/Templar pack is fairly solid and a great addition. Potentially the Artificer may not fit your fiction, but mechanically they are all a lot of fun.

  2. I like the Priest and Artificer yes. I’d allow an airship Captain so Artificer fits right in. There just at a point mechanicly where i think they have become a bit to cluttered. The new charge mechanic is good but the mechanical definitions of the gadgets +armor against, 2 piercing etc. wasn’t needed, as well as the gadget as weapon rule. Just my opinion.

The “when you use a gadget to get out of a tight spot” move was good enough for all of this for me.

  3. I personally greatly prefer The Witch over The Mage and will judiciously recommend replacing The Mage with The Witch for a general spread of character sheet options, but I am excessively biased in this regard.

  4. Hey Jacob Randolph, does the witch Token of Love move work on PCs? Effects like this usually don’t work just like this on other player characters, especially in Dungeon World. What is the intent here?

  5. As long as the player receiving the token of love is fine with the results, I don’t see why it couldn’t work on PCs. Of course, if the player does not want that type of situation, they could just turn down the Token of Love when it is given. If circumstances Get Weird, though, there’s always +WIS Defy Danger as a fallback option.

So to answer the question, it is not intended to work on PCs, but Dungeon World’s framework can handle it if the players want it to.

  6. The Mage is by far my favorite.  But, Jacob Randolph, since that’s how you feel, I’m hoping you’ll upgrade the Mage again.  Though I understand you are currently busy with Inverse World.  Some of us don’t want to ride on brooms.  How about a quick Google Document with your changes?  Er…  you know, when you do have some time.
