I don’t know if this was asked before but last weekend we had the chance to play DW the first time, the fighter lost his weapon and wanted to box/knee his opponent who was holding a sword. Hack&slay move?

Another question: How would you handle the situation when same fighter wants to hold his opponents weapon arm and disarm him?

  1. You can run the first as either hack & slash or defy danger.  It’s hack and slash if the unarmed fighter against his armed opponent is a fair fight — sometimes that’s true, sometimes it isn’t!  Especially if the fighter is wearing gauntlets.  (If they’re already essentially on top of each other in the fiction and they’re both human, this might make sense to roll hack & slash, if they’re at a distance, defy danger [the danger being that the fighter can’t get inside the sword’s reach] might make sense instead, this could then lead to a hack & slash roll or a simple damage roll, depending on how things get narrated.)

The second one (the disarm move) is very likely defy danger, the danger being the usual getting stabbed.

If you’re not sure, defy danger usually works fine.  Anywho, that’s how I run it at least!
