Over on Twitter, someone managed to unlock the first stage of the mini-ARG for The Planarch Codex, which leads to the freebooter “job board” of Dis. Other folks are welcome to participate or not. Just something fun that I wanted to try, after seeing a presentation about ARGs at PAX Dev a couple years back. I’m naming it in honor of the Hobbit movie coming out at roughly the same time. Also, pretty cool that it starts on 12/12/12.
Is this something those of us who aren’t on Twitter can participate in?

P.S. The way it works is like this:
1. Somebody finds the answer to the first riddle:
2. Somebody tells me the answer (over Twitter, Gmail, G+, whatever).
3. I post the next riddle.
4. The answer to the previous riddle is critical to answering subsequent riddles.
5. The answer to the final riddle is the location of the freebooter job board.
Also, along the way, the riddles will lead folks through a bunch of stuff that helped inspire the Planarch Codex. The first riddle actually highlights two critical people and their work.
Sound cool. I’ll check it out later when I’m somewhere that Twitter isn’t blocked.
